Circle Ride Sharing

Circle ride is a ride sharing mobile application that connects and allow users share a ride to a common destination at a stress-free and reduced commuting cost. Over concerns of high cost of transportation due to increase of fuel prices around me and the excruciating effect of climate change on the environment, I designed a carpooling app that allows passengers going towards a similar destination book and share a ride.

As the product designer for this project, I led the design process from researching and understanding the need for cheaper and comfortable need for commuting to implementing insights I got into crafting a digital experience for riders and passengers looking to share a ride on circle ride

Due to a recent hike in fuel prices and inflation all around, ride only became a major issue as the cost of transportation and maintenance of vehicles got expensive and people are looking for alternate means of commuting to work without stress.

How would Circle ride benefit us?

Reduction in Carbon emission

With an average vehicle on the road burning around 197g CO2 per kilometer, Carpooling with circle ride would reduce the amount of cars on the road giving both car owners and other commuters a cheaper means of commuting.

According to a study by the Drawdown Project, increasing car occupancy from an average of 1.57 persons per vehicle to 1.71 or 1.94 by 2050 could reduce emissions by 9.6 to 11.07 gigatons of carbon dioxide. This would be a reduction of 17% to 20% of current transportation emissions.

With Nigeria’s goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20% before 2030, with circle ride involved, it would be able to take on a fraction of this by reducing carbon emissions on the road.

Commuters would have to worry less about transportation

With circle ride, we would see a gradual drop in budget cost by individuals for transportation as they have a reliable and less expensive way of commuting. This would allow budget commuters save up on other priorities

Social Interaction would be improved

With an increase in less stressed and angry individuals commuting, we would significantly an improved social interactions amongst individuals sharing a ride. Commuters would be able to talk to each other more which builds trust amongst them.

Learnings

While working on this project, with different cases coming up, I realized that to promote this idea, We would need to do a lot of one on one marketing with targeted users around so they fully understand how this works
